Chunk By Chunk Mod (1.20.4) | Unlock New Chunks As You Play!

Chunk By Chunk Mod is a unique Minecraft mod that starts you off with access to just a single chunk of the game world. As you progress, you can slowly expand and unlock more areas.

A Brand New World…One Chunk at a Time:

When you first load up a world with the mod installed, you’ll notice something very different. Instead of spawning in a vast, open world, you’ll find yourself confined to just a single 16×16 chunk.

Outside of this chunk, the rest of the world is completely inaccessible…for now. The mod changes the fundamental Minecraft experience by forcing you to slowly expand the world as you progress.

Unlocking More Chunks:

So how do you unlock more chunks? The process starts by mining stone and dirt blocks from your starting chunk. You can then use the new World Forge block to convert these blocks into World Crystals.

You’ll find your first World Forge hidden in a chest at the bottom of the initial chunk. This will let you craft your first Chunk Spawners to spawn a new chunk and start growing the world.

Chunk spawners require World Cores, incentivizing you to keep mining and converting more blocks into crystals.

World Crystals can then be crafted into valuable World Cores. These cores are required to craft the all-important Chunk Spawners. As the name suggests, Chunk Spawners will spawn an additional chunk next to your existing ones, gradually expanding the playable world.

Customize Your World’s Growth:

The mod doesn’t just let you randomly spawn new chunks – it also gives you options for customizing the expansion process. For example, you can craft Biome-Themed Chunk Spawners that will generate new chunks based on specific biome types.

There are also Unstable Chunk Spawners, which pull in chunks from random parts of the world.

And if you want to plan out your world expansion, the World Scanner can map out surrounding unspawned chunks and detect specific blocks or liquids.

Once you have a good stockpile of cores and chunk spawners, you can automate the expansion process using the World Mender block. This will automatically spawn new chunks outwards from the mender’s position.
